Southampton-based Oat Cosmetics was granted by Derma Care an exclusive supply agreement for the manufacture of Derma Care’s proprietary oat based coatings incorporated as a powder free donning material for medical, surgical, industrial, food service or any other type of barrier protective glove.

Oat Cosmetics supplies formulators across the world with specialist oat-based ingredients for use in skin care and hair care products. The oat ingredient provided to Derma Care is prescribed as a USP Colloidal Oatmeal which is the powder resulting from the grinding and processing of the whole oat grain. The innovative milling process ensures that the ingredient is not only highly soluble for effective and uniform applications in barrier coatings, but it also maximises the efficacy of the actives such as beta glucan, avenanthramides and oat protein.

Oat Cosmetics Managing Director Cark Maunsell commented: “I am delighted to enter into a supply agreement with a company such as Derma Care who hold a number of patents concerning the use of oat coatings for skin care in barrier protective gloves. The use of our product should give superior skin care and protection, combined with high levels of comfort and performance.”

Joseph H. Neuser, President of Derma Care stated: “We believe that any glove should offer benefits to the skin beyond a physical barrier. Our products work as a skin protection system to ensure that the wearer’s skin is healthy and feels great. A healthy skin is a vital barrier to any infection.” Within the next months Derma Care expects to announce global distribution agreements to make its gloves available to the world’s healthcare providers.”
